Barbara Flammang & Wade Killefer

Our Profile   We seek to provide the highest level of service, quality design, and technical expertise to our clients. It is our goal to design buildings that fit — fit the landscape, fit the program and fit the budget. We want our buildings to reflect, support and celebrate the activities within them.

Our Process   Our first act as architects is to listen. From listening well comes the understanding that instructs and guides design. Our process is collaborative, informal, and evolutionary. We use both readable forms and images, as well as fresh and unexpected elements, to establish a relationship between the building systems, the site and the user.

Our History   Wade Killefer founded the company that has become Killefer Flammang Architects in 1975 as a design build firm. Barbara Flammang joined him in 1980 bringing experience from working in several large architectural firms. We designed our first library in 1983, our first school in 1985, and our first affordable housing project in 1990. In the late 1990s we became active in the adaptive reuse of historic buildings into housing in downtown Los Angeles. We have continued to build capability and expertise as the practice has matured.

Our Projects   Our work includes both public buildings and housing. We design school and university buildings, libraries, recreational buildings and community buildings. Housing projects include new urban apartments and condominiums, the adaptive reuse of historic buildings into housing, and affordable housing.
